Staff and Research Associates

Dr. Satya Mohapatra, Research Associate
Satya has been with CIELAP since 2003 and has extensive experience in environmental policy and applied environmental research. He specializes in water quality, air quality and transportation policies. Prior to joining CIELAP, Satya worked for the UN and as a researcher. He has published research papers in several international scientific journals including The Environmentalist, the Journal of Environmental Systems, Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, and the Journal of Environmental Science and Health, and has presented papers at conferences in North America, Asia and Europe. Satya holds a PhD in Environmental Chemistry.

Romila Verma, Research Associate
Romila has a PhD in Geography with specialization in watershed management. She has over 10 years of research, writing and teaching experience in the field of Geography and Environmental Studies. Her research interests, besides watershed management, are in the field of climate change impacts and adaptation; and the role of women in improving their environment. She is also an active member of her community and is the Vice-Chair of Markham Conservation Committee.

Carolyn Webb, Communications and Project Management
Carolyn Webb is responsible for communication strategies, funding development, and project coordination at CIELAP. She is also responsible for recruiting and supervising CIELAP’s volunteers. Carolyn contributes her spare time to the Institute for Community-Based Peacebuilding, an organization that she helped co-found in 2004. Prior to CIELAP, Carolyn coordinated the "3 For Kyoto" program with the Toronto Renewable Energy Co-op (TREC). She has recently completed her Masters in Adult Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto, and has a Bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences and Statistics from the University of Guelph.
